The Big 4 Hair Loss Causes

Did you ever experience looking in the mirror and notice that receding hairline? Yes did I hear you answer? This is an alarming state for a lot of people these days, and all the more reason why they always look for the best possible hair loss treatment.

I actually learned that it is pretty normal if a person loses 50 to 100 hair strands in a single day, which means that there is really no need to panic if you see some hair falling out whenever you brush it. However, it might actually be helpful to know the various causes behind hair loss.

Drugs

Drugs are discovered to be one of the causes, although there might actually be some delay between medications and the hair loss in reality. I must say that it is a must to consult your doctor first for you to know if the drug you are taking can lead to baldness or thinning hair. Here are some of the drugs that I have learned to cause shedding of hair:

- Anti-acne drugs like Isotretinoin and others
- Drugs for blood thinning like Warfarin
- Drugs for lowering lipid
- Drugs for gout treatment
- Calcium antagonists used for blood pressure regulation
- Anti-cancer drugs

Ageing

I should say that one primary and most common cause of hair loss is none other than ageing or increase in the physical age of an individual. The moment males reach 35 years old, 40% of the population can actually notice hair loss and by 60, 65% of the males show signs of male pattern baldness. Aside from that, older people have more tendency of having a receding hair line due to finer and thinner hair strands.

Genetics

Honestly, I personally think that you can never blame those people who get paranoid in losing their hair, saying that it is a “trend” in the family. This actually has a basis because genetics do play a role as far as hair loss is concerned. Its common belief that males inherit baldness from their mothers, and women from their fathers. This is something which can be inherited from the paternal or maternal side. The more family members who have male pattern hair baldness, the more likely you are to have it yourself.

Stress

I have long discovered that stress can give drastic effects to the body so I was not surprised to hear that this was included in the list of the many causes for baldness. Shedding of hair commonly takes place a couple or three months following the stressful period or event. But once the stress factor is eliminated, balding may cease.
